January 2015 Blogathons

So, in order to fully produce success for my writing career, including that which takes place here, I’m participating in a couple blogging marathons this month, one which starts this coming weekend and the other next weekend.

Since officially entering the first one requires me to flesh out my to-do list and post it here, this is what I have you. Forgive me, but some of the things on my list are VERY overdue.

For Bloggiesta, which starts the 17th of January, I’m making a very dedicated to-do list that is mostly preparatory work/non-writing.

To-Do January 2015

Organize Desk – You’ll see this as it’s own actual post. The reason why? It’s a disaster that deserves a before and after photo. It’s also very necessary that I complete this task first, as I’ve taken over Nick’s desk space (which prevents him from using his desktop computer while I’m working.)

Budget & Purchase Office Supplies for this Year – I’d like to be able to determine what type of organizational supplies and other office needs I’m planning to buy this year, and begin to buy them.

Find 1 new blog a day, and read it daily for a week. In a perfect world this would be a daily or every other day blog. But the purpose is to read more and network more. Obviously blogs that I enjoy reading would be committed to an indefinite amount of time to read, but setting a minimum of a week helps me give people a chance to impress me. I’ll do this through the end of the month to help me find a wide array of new talent and personal entertainment.

Share content from one new blog every day. On every social media platform. Since I use Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest frequently, as well as Google+ when I remember to, that’s 4 new blogs I’ll be sharing content for. This is something I’m going to do through at least the end of the month as well, so I can get into the habit of sharing all the good stuff I come across.

Make a list of all the books in my “To Be Read” piles. Update Goodreads account with this information. This will come in handy for the TBR challenge over on Caffeinated Book Reviewer in March.

Complete homework assignment. My high school 8th grade English teacher and thereafter my Journalism teacher for every semester (as well as very dear friend, infrequent penpal and tea date,) recently sent me a “homework assignment.” I need to make a list of things (to be shared later) to send her for a project. Deadline: January 31, 2015.

Hopefully I can get the entire list done during the Bloggiesta marathon so that during the Biannual Blogathon Bash I can focus on actual writing.

Thanks Michelle. I have a feeling it’s going to take forever with the books and therefore I’m going to procrastinate until the last minute.

Organizing our blog(s) and fitting them in to the online community is a great goal. Good luck on achieving yours, and have fun.

Thanks! I definitely had a good time going over my to-do list this weekend! I’ll check out your post tomorrow after I recover from an entire day of my kindergartner being home begging to go to school.

This is a great list. I love stationery supplies so I’d be in heaven to sit all day and sift through all of the fun organizational and stationery items you can buy. I think I am a hoarder when it comes to cute pens, post its, journals, etc. The one thing my office needs is a desk…. it’s all been redone and just waiting for me to find the perfect desk to store all of my goodies.

I wish you luck with the desk clean off/out. And all of your other goals!

      Chrystal,
I hope you get a desk soon! I’d die without it, as I hate typing long term on my lap or anywhere besides a flat top surface. I do know though that the perfect desk is vital! Mine is a love-hate type of relationship. I love having a desk, I’m just not in love with the very ugly paint job the previous owner did to it.

At this point I’d take one that is painted funny. I think I’m going to look at online yard sales to see if I can pick one up cheap and maybe just paint it to match my office. I don’t mind using my laptop on my lap as I have a lapdesk for it to sit on and then I snuggle under the blankets with pillows behind my back in bed and watch Gilmore Girls while I blog. ;)
